Avermedia HD DVR Review

Avermedia HD DVR Review

Postby reason » Mon Feb 22, 2010 10:34 pm

So I purchased the Avermedia HD DVR capture card about a week or 2 ago for $85 on http://www.amazon.com and it works like a charm. The quality is great and the performance is on point. Im a broadcaster on justin.tv and after several days of trying to get the HDMI output to work i was finally able to stream xbox 360 games with this capture card. The stream looked amazing and it does exactly what i wanted it to do :D . Alot of ppl use the Black Magic Intensity (BMI) capture card to stream in HD but if you want to get HD quality that is just as good as the BMI and will save you alot of money go with the Avermedia HD DVR. I was able to buy this capture card along with the necessary cables and splitters all for just over $100 which is about half of what you would pay for a BMI. If that's not a steal then i don't know what is lol. If any of you happens to try this capture card plz reply and tell me what you think :).

I bought this card too and I was able to stream live via justin.tv but the stream is very choppy.
I have a 100Mbit connection. Any tips?

What are the settings you are using? Is that Downstream or Upstream?

A lot of people prefer the HD PVR from Hauppauge because it is an external unit and are happy with the recordings that I have read over time. I would personally choose the HD DVR because: 1) It's Cheaper 2) Internal Card. Plus you are only limited to Component cables and if you planned on HDMI, it is a no go. AverMedia does have their own version of the HD PVR and it is the AverMedia HD DVR USB.

What are you planning to do with the capture card/device?
